IMHO you can't beat the Alpine units, you can have the motorised screen and then add a variety of options, e.g. iPod, camera, TV phone, satnav, DAB, you can even set the illumination to RED for the best possible sound then without doubt the Audison equipment is the best option, works with any head unit - just don't ask the price better still it's a perfect match for the Fcar as it's made in Italia

Thanks the replies (even Andy's!) .....

With respect to the Clarion unit. There was a thread on it a couple of years back and the fact that it didn't retract when you turned the ignition off and the backlight colour were a couple of issues...was that correct?

Although I can't comment on that specific Clarion, I don't think I'd ever buy that brand again.
I had one in a car years ago - some of the numbers in my phone are stored as +44....
When people called me from the UK, obviously the number starts 07.... The clarion was too dumb to recognise the numbers so I never knew who was calling me. I mailed Clarion to ask if there was a way around it, and was told it was 'correct behaviour'.

It annoyed me enough that I binned it in the end.

No mine closes with the ignition if the screen is open, it also opens as soon as you engage reverse for the rear camera, and closes when you go to first - all works perfectly. Never had a problem with screen colours, also loaded a Ferrari logo as a screen saver and background.

The +44 number problem, yes a pain in the butt, but i have the same problem in my Jag, Mini and X5 - all factory installed systems.

Surely if you save both domestic and international number formats in the contact it will resolve the issue. Not ideal having to effectively save the same number twice but an obvious work around I would have thought?

    Default Turning On and Off

Nothing to do with the Clarion unit, but on the 360 there is no "Aux" position on the ignition switch, so if you want to sit in the car and listen to the radio and/or music whilst your better half is shopping, then you need to leave the ignition switched on, I've had an adjustable timed relay fitted so that the unit stays on for one hour once the ignition is turned off, unless I turn it off manually.
