Default Driving home from eurotrip - some help needed please

Weíve been in Italy in our 1990 Mondial. After some fun alpine passes the car has started to stall occasionally at junctions. We can use the ac in towns or approaching junctions.

I did a pen ecu reset this morning but it hasnít helped.

Anything I can try using to few tools I have with me?

    it's a 3.2?

if so 2 things you could try,

take off the air filter and make sure the big metal plate is seating properly they can get a lot of dust/ dirt around the edge, if it let's too much air in it'll cause it to stall

On the front face of the plenum (the big red thing on top) there is a large bolt head with spring around the thread (on the underside of the metal bit that the big black hose connects to), you could try screwing that in or out to see if it helps, this is the idle air control, count the number of turns so you can put it back as was if it doesn't help

From memory it’s a Mondial T? You could try cleaning the MAF connectors and Throttle Position Sensor connectors using contact cleaner or MAF cleaner. If any of these connectors aren’t clean it can cause a stall in exactly the circumstances you describe.

Edit: Just noticed you say just using what you have with you and although I never leave home without contact cleaner as I own a 1980/early 90s Ferrari and they leak electricity you could try just undoing and re-seating the connectors.

Sorry for the very red picture but it shows the connectors well. The Maf and TPS connectors are circled in green:

Thanks to everyone who made suggestions.

I tried reseating the MAF electrical connectors, and then I found that the jubilee clip on the big semi flexible hose from the MAF sensor to the engine was loose. I tightened it and did another ecu reset. All working fine again now.

Just bombing through Luxembourg now with my wife driving like a demon! 😀
